I am currently having breakfast with everyone in Arte Village while going over today’s schedule.

「Is it? I thought we would practice underwater battles starting today?」(Sakura)

Sakura drops the question about my rest day announcement.
It was supposed top be underwater battle practice after the Sanou forest within the schedule.
Instead yesterdays forest training had the unscheduled 『Troll King 』 battle. I’d say that’s enough.
However, the battle with the King has left a burden on our minds and bodies.
Therefore, I will devote myself to rest today.

「Well, Its a holiday taking consideration of yesterdays fatigue.
And because some of us passed level 30, its time for a job change. 」(Fenrir)

NPC for changing jobs exist in the royal cities, West City and Towa City.
Depending on the job change, the required city may be different. And time to travel to each city would also naturally be different.

「It is Azure and I that have passed level 30. You should take a good rest today. It might be a good idea to play in the lake. Just swimming in the water and the levels go up steadily.」(Fenrir)

Vai, Vio and Mary are Level 29, while Sakura-Chan and Uni are Level 28.

As an example, A Knight at level 1, which is one of the warrior’s job changes, would have a sword skill of level 31 (level 1 + level 30)

「Level is not connected to an occupation.
Character levels like what Vio says are called cumulative levels. It is becoming popular to say that cumulative level is obtained by adding the level correction to occupation level.
If a knight is level 1, it would feel like he would be level 31 due to the cumulative effect.」(Fenrir)

(TL: occupation and job are interchangeable, sometimes one sounds better than another)

If its a fixed PT then you would have to change jobs while thinking of balence, but we are a temporary party. It is not necessary to adapt to everyone else if you consider what happens later. 」(Mary)

Here the difference between a fixed party and a temporary party emerge. Usually in a party, no one changes jobs. As Mary says, once the 『Water Dragon King』 is defeated, the party may be disbanded, so changing jobs to match the PT may be meaningless.

「I think will be ok. My current job is well balanced, so I think a change wont make much of a difference. By the way, where do you intend to change jobs?」(Fenrir)

「The higher classes for fighter is a Samurai who specializes in attacks and a knight who specializes in defense. I am planning to change my job to samurai. I’m looking forward to the twin sword skills.」(Vai)

「I’m planning to change to a Knight that has an emphasis on defense. I am interested in the shield skills. 」(Mary)

Shield skills are strange in that they can still be used offensively, even though a shield is typically protective gear. Of course you can use defensive techniques to help in battle though.

Twin sword skills are included in the Samurai job skills.
By the way, you can equip both hands with weapons even without dual weapon skills.
However, there is a equipped weapon penalty. Attack power is lowered by 40% when the wielder does not have the required skills. In the case of Twin swords, there are two weapons, so there is a penalty of 80%, so it’s meaningless to try to equip them without the required skills.

In the case of shield skills, there is no penalty for equipping shields as they are considered armor, and it has the skill effect of increasing defensive power, so it is a handy skill for a tank with a shield class.

「For the Magician, one of the upgraded jobs is the Magic Swordsman, which allows a even magicians who specialize in large magic to fight as a vanguard. It’s a no-brainer for me in my case.」(Fenrir)

It was the Sword Dancer that fought as a vanguard originally. The Magic Swordsman’s job looks promising. The magic would be further enhanced with the cheat skill of Maximum Magical Power.

「Thats right. I wouldn’t say anything if it was a normal game. But now that it has become a death game I would not recommend a vanguard with its high Mortality rate.」(Mary)

The two vanguards wait for a response.
Yeah, I was surprised, too. I didn’t expect Sakura-chan wanted to be a vanguard.

「Its ok! The summoning skills will stay so you can still be the vanguards. I originally played solo, so I am changing jobs in anticipation of that.」(Sakura)

There is no problem if he remains an Enchanter.
However, if he changes jobs to a higher job, he might loose the benefits of increased status.

「Is it Ok for you Uni? I think the status between regular jobs and higher jobs is really good.」(Vai)

「No problem. Originally The Enchanter is a profession that supports others. I like strengthening others over myself. It is convenient for me who will eventually leave this extraordinary party.」(Uni)

Vai also worried about me the same problem as me, but it seems it is a difficult thing to suggest. Uni is making a choice looking ahead.

So, I head to the NPC kingdom to change to the Magic Swordsman, and Azure-san goes to Towa city where the Ninja Job NPC is.

Within Ai-On, there are horses as a means of transportation.
This way travel time can be shortened by renting horses from the Rider guild.
A rented horse will automatically return to the coach union after 72 hours of use.
Ai-On is strange in this aspect. It is both realistic, but at the same time has the characteristics of a game.
Also, the Rider Guild also has coaches that regularly move between cities.

Towa city is located east of the Kingdom.

Because it takes a long time to get there, Azure-san came with me to the Kingdom to rent a horse.
Azure-san also came to the Kingdom to register for the transition gate launch, is located next to the beginners square.
A transition gate is located at both the West City and Towa City. If someone is registered at both gates, they can freely travel back and forth, saving time.
But, the problem is the person has to be registered at each gate, so its necessary to travel to each city and register the gate.

Originally I wanted to be a vanguard. Although now a Sorcerer, It is strange for me to be using a sword.

The amount of people who can craft such things are limite.
Since I was already acquainted with her and I was going to the Kingdom, I brought the required items and recipe.

「Asagiri-san, Hello~」(Fenrir)

I visited Asagiri-san’s workshop on craftsman street, but the inside had completly changed. Not just the workspace for item creation, but there was not a storefront facing the street. Well, when I came last time she had just bought the studio.

「Ah, Fenrir-chan, welcome back.」(Asagiri)

As soon as I was noticed, Asagiri-san waves her hands while smiling

「The workshop has changed quite a bit.」(Fenrir)

After all the little errands, my level 30 skills were reverted to a subskill, and I obtained an extra subskill slot. To fill this slot I decided to look for a skill book.

It would be nice to find something good at a stall, but rare items would still be just as expensive as compared to an NPC shop. So, Instead i’ll probably use a random skill book. I figured this while searching threw some stalls.

「Fenrir-Oneechan, Its been a while.」

「Ah, Ai-chan, Yes it has.」

The voice calling me out came from Ai-chan. If I remember, I havent been back since we became friends on the first day of the game.

「Oh yeah, I saw the Forum board. Those were not secret spells, but that was the influence of skills. I would also like to learn how to use them as well.」(Ai)

「Oh yeah, I said that. Sorry. I am only dressed this way due to the skills… So the only thing I can say is that I am the only magician with the Moe Skill… 」(Fenrir)

My only extra skill book is water attribute magic. Depending on the result of the random skill book maybe I can trade with Ai.

「By the way, what skills do you have duplicates of ?」(Fenrir)

「Nn, Sword skill, Bow skill, Body strengthening magic, and Ice attribute magic. oh, do you also have overlapping skills?」(Ai)

That Ice attribute skill, I want it.
If I have Ice magic, I would be closer to having the six attribute magics of a wizard while being a sorcerer. Although as a sorcerer, the power may be lower

Water magic is a common skill. Its a skill that you can easily get from a random skill book, just like basic sword skills. Its also sold in stores as a staple skill.

「Un, I was looking around, and Its too common for me to sell at the stalls. So, I was a bit worried. Besides, my goal is to be a cool beauty who is a water and ice Magical swordsman! I got Ice magic early, so now I need water magic, ne.」(Ai)

I traded Ai the with water magic book for the ice attribute magic. Of course I added some money because I felt it would not be fair.

I was invited to go hunting with Ai-chan afterwards, but right now I am busy with the 『Water King’s』 fight. I refused it because everyone was waiting in Arte village.

「I see.Onee-chan is doing her best to capture it. I must not disturb you.」(Ai)

「Sorry. I am sure there is time afterward. We can go together.」(Fenrir)

「Un, Considering our level differences it will be hard, so I’ll try my best to catch up to Onee-Chan. Lets go together when I catch up. Its a promise.」(Ai)

Ai-chan is determined, and expectantly waiting for the day. She immediately runs outside to raise her levels.
I prepare to return to Arte Village while seeing off Ai-chan.

Prepared to Live With the King’s Testimony

Countless spears emerge, centered around the 『Troll King』.
I escape by taking advantage of the spears as a foothold.

「High Heal!」(Vio)

Vio’s recovery magic quicky makes it’s way over.
Thanks to the pentashield, I was able to avoid deadly wounds, but I was still unable to avoid major damage. Or should I say, I would be dead without it.

When I looked over to Vai and Mary, It seems like they have taken the same amount of damage I have. As expected from a Fighter class. They have the HP and Defense so high that it couldn’t be compared to a Sorcerer like me. During this time, Vio casts recovery magic on Vai and Mary, who made distance from the 『Troll King』.

「Whoa! Whats with that attack! No way!」(Vai)

「Well, In a certian anime, it grew trees from seeds, right?」(Mary)

Yeah, I also remember that scene, thats why I was able to recognize beforehand.
But actually, the original pose had an umbrella.

「Yeah, like I said. From here it’s the real deal. Besides this attack, make sure to be careful of others.」(Fenrir)

「「Understood」」(Vai & Mary)

From my position, Vai and Mary take positions diagonally behind the 『Troll King』 and prepare for a counter attack. Even though I told the others to be careful, the one that has to be the most careful is me, as I have gathered the 『Troll King’s』attention.

That thought goes away immediatly.
The 『Troll King』gathers himself in a crouch.

『Stomp』(Troll King)

After the 『Troll King』muttered that, the next moment he had Jumped high into the sky.

「HA?」(Fenrir)

I stood there dumbfounded, as I hadn’t expected his body to be able to fly like that.
Meanwhile the 『Troll King』, descends dangerously.

BAMM!

Even though I avoided in a hurry, I wasn’t able to completely avoid it so my position collapsed. The 『Troll King』attack with left and right swipes with his claws.

「Energy Bolt!」(Uni)

Just before I’m hit, Uni catches the 『Troll King』off guard and I’m able to regain my posture. Still stunned from Uni’s attack, I attack.

「Wind Cutter! HA!」(Fenrir)

The 『Troll King』 who receives the wind blade is blown off a bit, and I’m able to get some breathing room.

Slowly, Vai and Mary close their distance to the 『Troll King』 from behind.

「Uni-kun, Thanks. You saved me.」(Fenrir)

After thanking Uni-kun, I got a spell ready to draw the attention of the 『Troll King』.

「Stone Javelin!」(Fenrir)

The Stone Javelin impacts, and the 『Troll King』 swerves to put his eyes on me.

The 『Troll King』currently only has three regular attacks. A left and right claw slash, a left and right Spin attack, and body slams. His two serious attacks are 『Grand Sprout』 and 『Stomp』.

Due to only having a few patterns, its easy to predict his moves. But, even then his power is no joke. And looking at his body, this fight is a brawl as expected.

I’m thinking that if i attack with both swords simultaneously, I should be able to scrape his hp off and win.

But that thought is easily disproven.

「Vai!　Mary!」(Fenrir)

I shoot two Sword Skills and a War skill, then immediately retreat. With my signal, Vai and Mary cut off the escape route of the 『Troll King』 that I pointed out. However, the 『Troll King』 jumps over them as if it was futile.

『Stomp』

The 『Troll King』descends in my direction why glaring at me, but I had predicted this.

「Stone Javelin!」(Fenrir)

I set the Javelin at the spot where the 『Troll King』will land, and I take a step back.
Of course, the 『Troll King』 can’t change his path in the air, so he lands, skewered on the spear.

『GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!?』

If it were the real world, the body of the 『Troll King』would be penetrated by the stone spear. But, since its a game world, the spear disappears after it connects with the 『Troll King』, and it just scrapes off some HP.
In other VRMMO’s, they often show results based on the state of the monster’s body. But, in Ai-On, it seems they haven’t gotten that far.
This scenario still leaves the feeling that this is still a game.

The 『Troll King』 screams and is rolling while holding his crotch.
With that opening, Vai and Mary attack.

It took about 40 minutes to cut down the 『Troll King’s』 health to 30%.

I feel relieved when i hear Azure-san’s explanation. It was just unnecessary then, to worry about if the fighting would continue even after the boss’s defeat.

「More importantly, What was that you used to defeat the 『Troll King』!? Was it one attack or two!? I’ve never heard of a boss with 80% HP being blown away in one go!」(Azure)

「Hey, I want to learn that magic shield. I haven’t heard about it before」(Sakura)

Well, usually you wouldn’t think someone can defeat a boss with a single blow. It’s no wonder they are curious.
And on top of that, The Maximum Magic Skill adds benefits to fusion magic when chanting spells to the already strong Flying-Dragon Sword, and Origin-Dragon Sword.
I predicted it to work with a one in eight chance, but it seems to have paid off.
I probably shouldn’t tell them about the swords, but the fusion magic should be fine.

「hmm, It’s an application of the Image-Effect Theory that causes a mixed spell.」(Fenrir)

My short explanation confuses everyone.
Well, I felt it would end up that way.
I did not find anyone who could put the Image-Effect Theory to use with the Magic sword technique.

Currently, since the T-Kings Proof is in the party storage, the owner has not been decided yet. But now it is possible to decide the owner out of the seven people.
The owner should consider the seriousness of the testimony first though.

Omg an update. wuuuut.

Part 2

Because we were close to the loud roar we immediately covered out ears. After the『Troll King』’s voice subsides, we hear incoming footsteps. The moment we hear the footsteps, a cat-like-bus from a certian anime has appeared, although it looks more like a station wagon, it jumped over to the entrance of the forest.

「This is bad! It blocked the escape route! Fenrir- chan what do we do!?」 (Vio)

「Seriously!? To fight without any preparation!? What should we do!?」 (Vai)

Vio and Vai started panicking because out escape route has been blocked.

「Everyone calm down. With this situation we are going to have to defeat the 『Troll King』. This is the only way we are going to survive.」(Fenrir)

I say these words to calm the others. But, actually my heart is beating really fast so its hard to be calm myself. I am the leader of this party now. I have to give an appearance that i am not panicking.

「Better? Calm yourselves. We won’t be able to get through this if we panic. Now, the Cat bus has covered our retreat, the 『Troll King』has spawned monsters. We would lose now even if we defeated the Cat bus. We need to defeat the King while some of us keep the Cat bus busy. Good right?」(Fenrir)

Azure-San decides to veto my plan.

「Wait a minute. Rather than defeat the King, wouldn’t it be better to break trough the Cat bus and escape? To battle without any preparations is too dangerous.」 (Azure)

And in position, I start moving for my attack. I attack with every step, then avoid an attack while sweeping my sword. I attack while also using High-Jump.

Late because of Real. Midterms are annoying. Part two soon. Probably a lot of errors in this.

Sanou Forest and the Troll King

「Fireball!」(Fenrir)

I shot a fireball which defeated a lizard priest in one blow.
That attack now caused me to gain the enemies hostility, the others aiming to attack me. Three of the lizard soldiers are coming towards me but, Vai and Azure-san restrain two lizard soldiers along their path. Mao-Chan also summoned a golem to help.
The remaining monster was trying to attack me like it was going after gold. I took a distance using back step while also breaking the lizard soldier’s posture. Then I hit him with my dual-wield skill, Triple attack.

「Mary!」(Fenrir)

「Please leave it to me!」(Rosemary)

After my attack, Mary tried to attract the lizard soldiers’ attention. However since, I am the one who has attracted the hostility, it just blocks the lizards path.

While Mary was trying to attract the lizard soldier, behind them were two lizard archers.
Vio and Mao-chan launch magic attacks to the lizard archer, but they were only able to keep them at bay because they didn’t have a job that was skilled in magic attacks.
Uni-kun covers Vai by setting up installation type magic.
The magic was cast with me also inside.

「Stone Blast!」(Fenrir)

A Myriad of stone bullets are released and the lizard archer disappears. I continue to invoke the magic sword to cast a spell.

「Fire Arrow!」(Fenrir)

The Primordial Dragon Sword in my right hand is wrapped in red light.

「Mary, Switch!」(Fenrir)

「It’s ok! Square!」(Mary)

The sword skill square, has a diamond shaped attack line that disturbed the stance of the lizard soldier.

From there, me and Mary change, Then I give the magic sword to the lizard soldier.

Zugaaaan!

All of the Fire Arrows are released were received by a lizard soldier, who is overwhelmed and disappears.

「Mary help Vai! Azure-san switch with me!」(Fenrir)

「Roger that!」(Azure)

Azure-san was able to restrain a lizard soldier with his high speed as a thief and the help of a golem. I was able to gather the enemy’s hostility and have it come to me, so Azure-san has an opening. So from there I set up the dual wield skill, cross, to shoot a fireball at contact distance.

「FIRE BALL!」

I cleaned up the monster in front of me, and looked to the others to see the rest of the lizard soldiers being finished.

「Fuu, Our teamwork has improved.」(Vio)

Violette came to my side to talk with a smile.

「Right, Today we were able to increase our level up while improving our teamwork.」(Fenrir)

Even if there are healers in the PT, my magic seems to still gather all the hostility.

Vio can switch to attacking long distance monsters if she isn’t performing her healing. I asked Vai and Azure-san to be the vanguard and restrain monsters, while Mary and I also take one monster.
In that time, Uni-kun would restrain a monster with long range attacks from the rear guard, while Vio and Mao-chan would support Vai with magic.
When Mary and I defeat a monster of the vanguard, Mary moved to support Vai while I killed monsters near the rearguard with magic. Then I would switch with Azure-san to defeat his monster.

By the way, Mao-chan summoned a golem for Azure-san’s support, and she summoned a Unicorn for recovery.
That was our rough teamwork pattern for now.
But, we still need to think of how to act later in the water because this is still on land.

「Even so, As usual it’s amazing. Fenrir’s magic.」(Vio)

「As expected of a cheat skill. It roasts MOBs with one shot of beginner magic.」(Vai)

Because they have been accustomed to my cheat skill of Maximum magic, they see the difference of their skills every time the magic positions are set up in the PT.

「I appreciate it, Vai and Vio. But this was only because I was lucky. Because the character was randomly made. It was a nice bonus that put bare skills to shame.」(Fenrir)

「Hey, I have a question. Why do you bother using the magic sword when your magic power level is already high? Does it change the speed and power when it is done separately? It seems like only a disadvantage.」

Given an ordinary situation id say the same. The attack motion with a sword and chanting for magic would delay the speed.

「That’s not it. There is also a benefit.
First, the power of magic goes up because it is used.
For example the Fire Arrow magic sword from earlier. Normally the cast is long, and even if the arrow doesn’t hit it is still shot. The moment you rely on the magic sword, all the places that the sword hits, the magic hits.

In Sanou forest there are only three kinds of monsters. They are Orcs, Lizardmen and trolls. For each race, different classes such as soldiers, archers, mages and priests can appear in a monster PT. Sometimes the PT can have mixed races such as; a vanguard troll soldier, a lizardman archer and an orc priest. Even if it’s a mixed PT they still are more effective than them figting individually. An Orc vanguard would be like a towering wall of meat gathering attention, while the archer would go for anyone who would break off from the orc.

Apparently, this forest type field has made pair PT available. The cooperation of our PT has also become smoother steadily. Even so, we were careless. In particular, it was most likely because of my maximum magic skill, that we had been accustomed to be able to overcome most situations. Even though I had the same situation before, I did not realize it until the time came.

By fighting in the back of the forest we had raised are levels quite a bit. I am level 29, Azure-san is level 28, Vai, Vio and Mary are level 27, and Mao-chan and Uni-kun are level 25.

We proceed to the back of the forest with that attitude. And we suddenly exit into a plaza surrounded by trees.

There was a sleeping monster close to the center of the square. It had gray limbs and ears, and a oval body shape.

Self-Introductions and an Extraordinary PT

I tried to check the bulletin board I wrote my request for a party in yesterday.

But here would give a feeling that the temple was placed her mistakenly. It might have been the village had not caught up to the level of prosperity of the temple. I continue from yesterday by stepping into the Crystal Lake. Once I got into the water, my appearance changed from a Mahou Shoujo outfit to a School swimsuit.
Damn, I can feel of swimsuit biting into my crotch makes me restless.
I wonder if all girls feel this when they wear a swimsuit?
And the pressure of the swimsuit against my chest is painful.

…Does that mean the swimsuit is too small?
Is this tightness supposed to be Moe!?
Or is a tight swimsuit on a busty loli with twintails supposed to be Moe!?
Let’s stop thinking about that… I will only continue to take damage to my man gauge if I continue.

Immediately, I activated the kemonoka skill, Fish Breath to breath underwater. I am supposed to have gills on my neck, but due to the Moe skill there is no change in appearance. It’s a bit disappointing that this is a time that the Moe skill would be useful.
By the way, The Beamu skill that increases arm strength is supposed to make arms bigger and hairier. And the skills to increase speed changes the shape of the foot similar to a gazelle to raise evasion. In this way (some of them ugly) the appearance from the kimono skill justifies the hate.

I take a combat stance holding both of my swords, First I try to shoot a fireball at the shark.

So I remember that in both hands I have magic swords. The swords themselves have considerable power, not even including the cheat skills. The magic power has also gone up. This must be because of the Maximum magic Skill. Even now I feel dizzy from the abnormal power of my specs. It’s possible to be strong without it, but to be strong to this extent feels strange.

The PT was able to gather the upper limit of seven including me. The amount of people were small than I thought, but it was good we were able to fill up one party.

Of course some people came before the deadline. We didn’t just wait for the others, so the people who came early went to the woods and Crystal Lake to level up.

Mao-chan is a petit girl with a height similar to mine. (TL: remember MC’s avatar is short) A summoner’s job is literally to summon monsters. However it is unable to summon special monsters or at an unlimited number, like in light novels. It is also determined which monsters can be summoned.

「 Mao-chan, there are 6 types of mobs that can be summoned right?」(Vai)

「 Yeah, Golem, wolf, fairy, lizardman, unicorn and lamia at level 20. It is also possible to summon two monsters at the same time.」

It seems she is able to summon monsters more powerful than I thought. Vai also asked Mao-chan that question.

Water Dragon King and Arte Village

August 5^th. 5^th day.

Because the Stone monument of the 26 Kings has sunk to the bottom of Crystal lake, I decided to level up my <Swimming> skill.

As soon as one takes the highway from the West Gate of the Imperial City there is a fork. By heading to the right, leads the road between the Forest of Crystal lake and Sannou, eventually reaching the Neighboring country of Premium Kingdom. When heading to the east, the road bypasses Sannou Forest and continues later to the West City road in the west. For me to go to Crystal lake I headed to the right.

Crystal lake Is a big lake. It would be bigger than the largest lake in Japan Lake Biwa. Or at least the same size as lake Shikoku.

I immediately went into Crystal Lake to try my <Swimming> Skill. There was no effect of wearing normal clothes when I was swimming because it is a game. That’s what I thought, But as soon as I entered into the water the Mahou Shoujo clothes changed.

「Ha? 」(Fenrir)

It was a dark-blue One-piece type swimsuit, with a patch that had ‘Fenrir’ written on the chest. Yes, it’s the school swimsuit.

「Wha! Whats this!? Whats with this!? 」

As soon as I went underwater, my clothes changed under the Moe skill’s influence. Uooo… I never expected to wear a school swimsuit…There is even damage from just being dressed like a Mahou Shoujo…

But, letting that agony set, I dive into the water. I try, but there isn’t much to do anyway. I was surprisingly able to dive for 5 minutes. It feels like the water resistance is less here than in reality. To raise the level of swimming skills it is needed to dive longer, and with those skills one can swim more smoothly. I decided to raise the level of swimming skills by swimming to the center of the lake temple.

There was countless fish swimming underwater. When I tried to look at the fish, it seems they have HP bars. When I look, this is a place filled with non-active monsters that don’t come to attack. I think it would be interesting for players to try to catch a fish with their hands and then cook them. When using the dual wielding skill Cross, the fish would disappear in a single blow. Well, it’s dual wielding the Primordial Dragon Sword and the Flying Dragon Sword. Small fry is no match. At this rate catching a fish is impossible. Ayu, Carp, Mullet, Sea Bass, and Horse Mackerel fish swim towards me. They were fairly large coming from the other side of the water.

At that moment, A BGM that frequently occurs in movies started. The monster that appeared was Jaws.

I did not realize until know, it isn’t possible to cast a spell under water because it is impossible to speak underwater. That’s one thing not game-like.

This is bad. No, Jaws isn’t the problem, nono. It’s dangerous that I cannot use magic. Ah, I panicked a little. Calm down…

Using a triple attack that I learned from my level 30 dial wielding skills to hit Jaws, which had been charging me, Jaws attacked then retreated. After that I somehow return to the surface in a hurry to get a breath.

Right now I can’t use my main magic, and I am alone. It would be too reckless to challenge the ‘Water Dragon King’ Like the ‘King of Beginnings’ because of that and it was not a death game back then.

The ‘Water Dragon King’ widens its mouth, and shoots water bullets at me.

Making full use of my swimming and step skills, I am still barely able to dodge the attack. I immediately retreat at full speed toward the surface. As I was swimming towards the surface of water, there was no sign of the ‘Water Dragon King’ chasing after me, so I was somehow able to escape from the depths of the water.

I swim torwards the nearby shore, because now I’d rather not stay in the lake. Since there is a village nearby the highway, between the woods of Crystal Lake and Sannou, I decide to take a rest there while thinking of ways to defeat the ‘Water Dragon King.’

「Oh, Welcome. It’s been a long time since an adventurer came to this rural village. 」

「There are some travelers, but not as many adventurers. There is nothing but the Toka ruins nearby. And even then… no never mind.」

I see, so adventurers are players who don’t pass through here. Or it might be because they haven’t extended the areas up here.

After I hand over 100 Gordes for the payment I receive a room key and head up to the second floor. I realized that I don’t know any information about the ‘Water Dragon King’ and this village is close to the lake, so I go down to see the shopkeeper.

「 Did you know there is the monument of the 26 Kings in the center of the Crystal Lake? Nearby it was the ‘Water Dragon King’.」

After I mention the monument the inn shopkeepers grasp me by surprise.

「 You said there was the ‘Water Dragon King’!? And!? What else!? Wy did you do something annoying like that!?」

The shopkeepers spirit seems to falter.
Well, was what I did a bad thing…?

According to the shopkeeper’s story, the angered water dragon sank the monument to the bottom of the lake. Luckily Arte village was just far enough to avoid damage. I heard damage from the ocean can be quite bad, but is damage from a lake also as bad? Or I wonder how much anger the ‘Water Dragon King’ must have is also amazing. For Arte village to keep peace, they have been sacrificing one girl every year in order to quell the ‘Water Dragon King’s rage.

“Save Arte Village” was displayed when I looked at my quest menu. So now was how I was supposed to receive the quest.

Evidently, the Sacrifice ceremony is August 31^st. It seems the King gets stronger every day due to its anger, and on the 31^st, its strength is at its peak. And the power of the ‘Water Dragon King’ will subside to its weakest after it eats a sacrifice.

If I challenge before August 31^st it would be possible to beat but difficult. If I challenge it after the 31^st it would be at its weakest.
The former aside, the latter is not okay. Even to abandon an NPC leaved a bitter aftertaste.

After I immediately experiment to try to use magic underwater. Some results were found, there are three ways to use magic underwater.

1.The first way, Is to use Aqua Breath from the water attribute skills. This magic allows you to talk and breath underwater. But, it must be cast on the surface because the spell cannot be cast underwater.

2.The second way is the water attribute magic, Aqua Lung. The effects are similar to aqua breath, but you can also apply it to others. But of course just like Aqua Breath you cannot apply the magic underwater.

3.The third way is the combat skill from the Kemonoka skills, Fish Breath. This skill
allows you to breathe and talk by giving the player fish gills. The biggest difference between them is that it can be cast underwater. This is because it is not necessary to say words, but to think it as it is an attack skill. But because it gives you gills on the neck, it is quite unpopular.

After hearing the announcement of defeating the King of Beginnings yesterday, I had unconsciously come back to the inn without even realizing it.

Players were probably panicking because the announcement of the death game, to that thought it didn’t happen. According to the story I heard later, half of the players were distressed while the other half was rejoicing. This was because now they could play AI-ON for as long as they liked without worrying about reality.

「Perfect Escapism…huh?」(Fenrir)

I was thinking about the future of the death game while in the bed of my room.

Considering the situation, the only benefit would be the ability to leave the unpleasant ‘real’ behind and enjoy the game. But now since there is no unpleasant ‘real’, the horrors of the virtual world come out. Person to Person relationships in the MMO are born. These relationships are not the best relationships. Because of this now a ‘real’ named ‘virtual’ is born.

For future policy, to spread out the Proof of Victories, I’ll join as a helper to other PT to defeat the kings.

The materials to be used are selected in a column and everything is completed with one button.

Weapons with magic attack are called magic swords or magic spears. It gives players the ability to use magic without switching weapons.

It would be unbalanced to have only one weapon this strong when I dual wield. Since, the other sword I have now has the attack power similar to the initial equipment. …When I think about it now this was the sword that beat the King of Beginnings.

The <Blacksmith> was easy to learn. I was able to clear it by doing a production quest from the NPC in the blacksmith workshop. The requirements was to purify an iron ingot from Iron ore. Iron ore was easily available from rocks scattered in the planes outside the east gate. Once the purified iron is made into ingots and taken back to the workshop, the quest is complete.

I show the iron ingot to the master of the blacksmith workshop. Usually the master NPC of a workshop is associated with stubborn old men, but I was surprised because here it was a woman. This is probably due to other games.

Took a while, was busy. Also thinking of changing Shinjin to Shinji.

The King and The Death Game

August 3^rd. Day 3

After I Partied with Rockbell’s group, We had an enjoyable time.

RockBell and Kagetora also have played another VR, a fighting VRMMO. They have partied there. In a plain MMO a character can attack in any position. But this doesn’t work in a VRMMO, because now you have to mind standing, pauses, ranks and other factors. The two take advantage of the experience they gained there to accurately instruct the party members. I was also asked if they could study my fighting when I was receiving instructions from the two.

In the party I seemed to have the highest level, everyone was surprised. RockBell, who was highest than most was level 19, following was Nanami at level 17 and the rest were level 16. They said I was the one who was the most unnatural. Yeah, it’s pretty abnormal to be over level 20 in a day and a half.

After that, I separated from party when it started to become dark.

So, I have come back to the back of the forest to practice and experiment Image Effect Theory again. Also, by selling the drop items from yesterday up until today, I was able to buy several swords from Light’s stall. Using the Magic swords doesn’t require magic. But they keep breaking. Light appeared surprised again, but was willing to sell me the swords.

I came to the forest and started attacking Ogres and Bogards, as I quickly moved to the deeper area. In the middle of it the endurance of one sword becomes depleted and is replaced with a spare sword.

Umu. The endurance consumption rate is to intense to continue this.
It might be early to still look for a blacksmith with better skills.
But, there is a blacksmith skill, polishing, that renews the endurance, once it is low.

I did not notice it because I was fighting, but I went into the deepest section of the forest. When I noticed it I was out in square area surrounded by woods. And a huge lizard with Horns and wings was standing in the middle of the square. Yes, it was a dragon there.

「A…re? Is that? Is it really…」(Fenrir)

In response to my sound, the dragon turned its head and looked at me.

「Who is the one preventing me from my sleep?. I am one of the 26 kings, the king of the beginning, Start. You are a fool for interfering with my sleep, for that you will die.」

The dragon said something ridiculous suddenly.

Angel Quest
Defeat one of the 26 kings, or ask one the path of the road that leads to god. And by following the path to meet a god, you will be able to have any wish granted. That is the grand quest of Angel in Online.

Before me is one of the Dragon king’s of the 26. It’s definitely one of the big bosses.

「Whaaat? Eeeh? The king appeared in the game so early!? Seriously!?」(Fenrir)

「HOLD ON! Whats with the Sudden Flame Breath!?」(Fenrir)

I avoid to the side, while preparing a spell. I decide return a fireball so I shoot it back.

「FIREBALL!」 (Fenrir)

The fireball I shot slammed into the side of the King of Beginnings face. The King does not even react as if nothing happens, and glares back at me. In the corner of my field of view I see the HP bar of the King has been shaved off about 5%. Hmm, so beginner magic is also effective. As expected of the cheat maximum magic.

Well, the king is my opponent. I have to be serious against him.

Here, using Image effect theory, other than the magic sword, I am able to cast troll spells. (TL: Literally a troll spell)

For each attribute of magic, there is a shield system magic. Fire shield magic cuts 5% to fire attacks and cuts physical attacks by 5%.
The water shield magic cuts 5% to water attacks and cuts physical attack by 5%. It feels like around that.
The shield effects cannot stack when cast one after another either. One will overwrite the other.

So here is where I can use the troll spells. The diversion spell, it’s the same as the frog song. (TL: A Japanese nursery song) It invokes the image of multiple magic’s for one chant, even though I can also chant each magic individually. This enables piling multiple shields on each other. By casting the shield system cuts 5 % of all elements, Fire, water, Earth, wind and lightning. And even then it cuts physical attack by 25%. I call it the penta shield, this is because it forms a five pointed star from the piled up shield systems magic. (TL: What a Mahou Shoujo like move. Lol)

The troll spell is pretty much a cheat, but there is a disadvantage. Naturally since it is a spell that casts multiple magic’s at the same time, the cast tie takes almost a minute longer. Casting becomes longer the more magics are added, and so failing to cast the spell by fumbling can occur. To recite the five types of spells is simply thinking five times the calculations of the normal spells.

While avoiding the King’s attack I cast the Penta shield troll spell.

「FIRE SHIELD!
WATER SHIELD!
WIND SHIELD!
EARTH SHIELD!
THUNDER SHIEILD!」(Fenrir)

Since all of the magic is intertwined, a thin curtain of light surrounds me. I continue the troll spell while reciting the body strengthening spell. I cannot stack the body strengthening magic too much. Magic that’s boost strength, dexterity boost, agility boost, 4x vitality boost, but quadruple boost remove strength.

「There is another Bonus. Beaam!」(Fenrir)

There is no need to say the name of the attack because of thought operation, but it feels short anyway. Strengthening by magic cannot be stacked, but body strengthening by both magic and attack moves together is possible.

「Noow, my preparations are done. It’s time to go.」(Fenrir)

My Step skills level has risen to level 38 because I have emphasized aboiding in all battles so far.

I was attacked, but it was convenient I was able to get many step skills. Combat steps, chain steps, and turning step, are all skills I learned at level 30.

While I was dodging and casting the troll spell, I had analyzed the King’s attack pattern at the same time. The attack pattern consists of, Flame breath, Rush, Biting, Forefoot Attack (Claws?), and cleave tail. It was enough to avoid each attack by anticipating them.

The king sucked in a big breath. Sucking in his breath is a sign of Flame Breath.

GURUAAAAAA!

The King discharged a cluster of Flame Bullets.

「Ku!」(Fenrir)

I avoided while puzzled because I was expecting a different attack. More unexpected situations occur.

The number of flame bullets was four.

What? He can run while firing?

Bearly avoiding the four Flame bullets, I had lost my balance as I didn’t expect the attack. Unexpectedly avoiding the attack placed the king right in front of me.

「!! I can’t evade in time now!」(Fenrir)

Looming in front of his attacking right foot I evoke the cross attack from the dual wielding skill. I used the cross’ defense skills to receive the attack, but by crossing the two swords I am unable get enough power to prevent the huge dragons forefoot attack. I casted the auxiliary magic, light, which is used to illuminate during the night and while in caves. I shot it in front of the King, allowing the light to last for a second, but at maximum brightness.
With a maximum brightness and a short duration, it’s used to blind eyes. Although it’s a technique I read in a light novel, I didn’t expect to use it.

GUUOTSU!!!

After I was able to inflict three bad statuses, burnet eyes, visual paralysis, and paralysis, the king lost sight of me and I increased the gap distance between us. After I was some distance away I took a deep breath. By parrying the king’s attack I still received damage enough to take half of my HP. I open the menu and drink 3 potions in quick succession. When I have completed my recovery, the king has also regained his vision and glares at me.

Unlike the Open type single space magic like Burst Flare, Grand press was a compression type single point magic. It attacks a target with pressure, and also the pressure collects earth that is pulled into the target area. However a little change is needed for it to be used as a magic sword. The image to invoke the magic is imagining the earth being pulled and compressed. When I have to imagine the process while coating the sword it becomes tricky to hit with it.

The kings tail somehow swung around to hit the magic sword, I attempt to try to decrease the damage. The moment the tail hits it is magic sword, I was flung backward by the impact. Checking my remaining HP, I realized it was somehow reduced to 1/3.

Muu… I finally recovered my HP and then it was reduced immediately…

Although it also was able to damage the King because of the magic sword strike and his attack was simultaneous.

The king seems to start getting irritated at my avoiding, as he starts to flap his wings and fly, making the wind blow.
This is bad!. Attacks from the air are much harder to avoid.

「CYCLONE BURST! 」(Fenrir)

As a one point, open ended wind attribute magic, it began to activate just above the King, making the air dance. All the wind gathered at one point, was released in the next moment. The king receiving the blast lost his balance and was thrown towards the ground. Just as he was struggling to get up, I shot fire arrows into his location.

Although the King received the Flame arrow, he was somehow able to rise. Returning to face me, he prepares a Flame Breath. Since flame breath has a different attack pattern, I wonder if Cleave also has a alternative. Because of this I avoid early with a high jump instead of a regular evasion.

As expected of a big boss. It’s as tougher than I thought~
This battle has taken longer than I expected.
How ever you look at it, even though I was riding along the situation, the King of Beginnings and I started fighting, but really challenging the boss isn’t something usually done solo…?
Now that the attack pattern is know, usually a party would challenge the boss after they have this information.
…Well, whatever. It’s interesting to see how far I could go solo-ing.

After repeating attacks and evading attacks, since challenging the king, 30 minutes have probably passed. The effective buff of the penta shield is about to wear off. The buff generally lasts about 30 minutes.

Looking at the HP bar of the King, it has dropped to about half after all these attacks.

Humu, the buff is about to cut off, then ill re-apply another one. But, how about I do one more big move before then?

I cast 4 simultaneous spells. All at the same point.
First I apply Burst Flare on my right sword, then Aqua Pressure again on the right sword This is done to make a combination magic. The effects together make a water vapor explosion as a mix of water and fire.
Next I cast Cyclone Burst and Thunder blast on my left sword. The synergized effect of wind and thunder make a thunder storm.

After coating both magic swords, the king used his left forefoot to attack. Using this as a springboard I ran overhead to the top of the king. At the top I released the dual sword attack-Cross to the King’s head. All together the spells have a multiplier effect shown by a cross cut. This was the highest damage attack I was able to come up with. It’s a four pair attack. Of course the disadvantages are that the casting time is long, and while fighting it is difficult to imagine the fusing of two magics.

ZUGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!

「GURURUAAAAAAAAAAA!!! 」(King)

The explosion og magic was followed by the echoing screams of the Kings roar.
I was flicked backwards by the impact from the magic swords explosion.
After regaining my posture in the air I looked at the state of the King of Beginnings.
Also, at this time, my swords break as their durability reaches zero.
heyhey, just one attack was able to reduce the endurance to zero.
Because of this I equipped my spare swords immediately and take a guarding position.

The king had been struggling to stand up, falls in exhaustion.

「Gurua~」

The King collapsed where it was and stopped moving.

I muttered accidentatly.
Eh? Wait a minute? The King still had half of his HP?
Did this attack remove more than half of its Hp!?
Its my attach… But whats with this attack power…

But, my surprise was halted by an announcement that flowed.

August 02 —————Second day——-

「FIREBALL!」

I launch a fireball from my right magic sword. While maintaining my stance fending off an attack from a hobgoblin I attack again.

「THUNDERBALL!」

The left magic sword was covered in electricity. It is an impressive attack, a dual attack of dual wielding weapons required the proper timing attack the hobgoblin.

This attack is almost like a deathblow. Magic must be cast to trigger it, but the attack skill is activated by thinking. But why does it take MP.

Gugyaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

The hobgoblin disappeared with one attack.

I had returned to the back of the beginner forest again.

After dinner yesterday, I logged back in and resumed hunting.AI-ON’s passage of time is equivalent to the real worlds. So after dinner, because it was 8pm it was pitch black when I logged in. So I had to go by lanterns. To use in the forest at night. I was practicing attacking by imaging them. I was trying to figure out how to affect magics and how it leads to changes, or it could be known as imaging effect theory. I was experimenting and practicing the same time to learn the effects.

Well, because it is night time, the mobs that appear are stronger. So I didn’t stay too long because the visibility was bad.

Because I headed to the forest after logging in yesterday, when I open the menu my sorcerer level has become 23. (TL:in this story the actual class name is sorcerer, I guess I’ll use this from now on.)

Job slot frame for subskills increase by one every ten levels. Currently, there are two sub skill slots because my level increased past twenty.

In order to obtain a new subskill I bought a random skill book in the market place.

In order to get a subskill a skill book is required.
The Skill Book
Books are dedicated to one skill, such as sword skills or fire attribute magics.
Those are the two kinds of random skill books to learn a random skill.

Why a random book? It is because to buy a specific skil book from an NPC costs too much, enough to cry.

It’s about 100,000 Gordes for something like a sword skills book. The two sword skill cost 500,000 Gordes. And because it isn’t the beginning of the game, books cannot be just given out. Compared to that a random skill book only cost 1000 Gordes. So I have no choice but to hope a skill I like comes out from the random book. The developers rally like randomization.

Incidentally, a subskill that is learned that isn’t needed can be transferred into a blank skill book. The transferred skill book is then a dedicated skill book. So, from that it is possible to get a subskill that one wants by trading with other players.

So, anyway I buy two random skill books. I opened them and I obtained a lightning magic level one and a water magic level one. Lightning magic is nice, but I already have the water attribute magic. (TL: If She had it, why wasn’t it used? Lol)

For skills there are two types of skills, job skills and subskills. The effect is basically the same. But the growth is different.

You have to remember that job skills are a part of the profession. Speaking of which my profession is sorcerer.

Wand
Fire attribute magic
Water Attribute magic
Wind magic
Earth magic
Magic Strengthening magic
Body strengthening magic
Auxiliary magic.

That’s what I have. Those levels are linked to the job level. Since my sorcerer level has become level 23 my job skills are al level 23.

For a job, those skills level up when you defeat a monster, but subskills only level up when you use them.

Also since my Job has water attribute magic, I already have the water attribute subskill. For magic, jobs skills are a higher priority.

Basically no matter how much of the job skill water magic I use, the subskill magic won’t rise.

Well, the menu can be set to raise the water attribute subskill and not use the water attribute job skill. At this point it’s not really worth it.

Since I can’t help but buy another random skill book, the book I received was therimorphosis skill level 1. It is a skill to strengthen the body with the strength of beasts, separate from attacks, it is treated like magic. (TL:Something like an animal form in martial arts, I think from now on will change Therimorphosis to Kemonoka which I think is the Japanese pronounciation. It’s easier lol)

Yeah lightning magic and Kemonoka. I felt these were pretty good skills.

So with care, I went to the back of the forest to practice and level up my new lightning and Kemonoka Magic with Image Effect Theory.

「Phew~ Two simultaneous magic swords are difficult to handle.」(Fenrir)

I take a break to clean up the hobgoblin in front of me.

The monsters have increased in strength from yesterday, as I have went further into the back of the forest. Giant Spiders, Giant viper, subspecies’ of goblins; the goblin soldier, goblin shaman, goblin archer, Higher goblin; Hobgoblin, ogre and more are coming out.

Although the monsters are stronger, it is good practice for Image Effect Theory.

I hear the battle sounds of swords and magic while I’m moving through the back. Apparently someone is fighting close by.

When I went to the sounds of the battle there were, 3 fighters, 1 theif, 1 sorcerer, and 1 preist in a 6 person party in battle. (TL: Fighter up until now has been warrior. Should I use the actual class name of Fighter or warrior?)

There were 4 hobgoblins trying to attack the 3 rear guard. The other three fighters were busy with 3 ogres to not be able to help the rear guard.

In addition to that, in the back a goblin archer and shaman have them pinned down.

Oh? This is quite a pinch isn’t it?

I have to help I thought. So I equipped my left and right swords from my hips and cast Kemonoka skill ‘beam’ and I also cast muscle strengthening as I join the battle.

「FIREBALL!」(Fenrir)

The fireball I shot blew up the hobgoblin that was heading to the thief of the rear guard.

「There’s someone behind you!」(Fenrir)

「Sorry Please help us survive!」

The person to the left thief confirmed that, and moved to the thief’s side. Apparently they were in a big pinch, so the thief had a pretty relieved look.

But now the rest of the Hobgoblin that was heading towards the rear guard was heading towards me, a total of three.

If I didn’t increase the level of my Steps I would have totally lost all of my HP already.

While fending off the Hobgoblins attack I look towards the vanguards. The Ogre was coming to me while ignoring the Vanguard.

Although it seems the fighters have stopped him somehow. The goblin archer and shaman have even moved to attack me. But even so, I keep evading their attacks.

「Amazing…」

「I can’t believe it…」

「A sword dance…」

Looking here, three people were startled watching me avoid that they forgot to also attack.

Finishing casting a spell, I dash towards the two hobgoblins in front of me. Then after I got close to one I triggered the spell.

I move immediately to defeat two hobgoblins, while viewing the rest and use the dual wield skill ‘cross sword’ to kill another hobgoblin in at close distance. To activate the magic sword I cast a spell in the meantime.

When someone’s HP becomes zero in this state, all of your items can be dropped. Of these items even the equipment will be dropped. (Except for underwear). To log out in the field, one has to set up a camping set. One ca safely log out if one is deployed. Even if it requires three minutes as well, the camping set is necessary. Why? It is to prevent immediate log outs similar to using teleport items in other MMO’s.

In the Town, Logging out isn’t as severe. In the city the body will remain in place for one minute. And in this state, if HP reaches zero only several random items will be dropped. So, to go to an inn to safely log out in AI-ON is common sense.

I look for a decent inn that looks good while walking down the street. Of the inns on this street, I exclude the upscale inns, looking for one with a meal then to sleep.
