The King and The Death Game

August 3^rd. Day 3

After I Partied with Rockbell’s group, We had an enjoyable time.

RockBell and Kagetora also have played another VR, a fighting VRMMO. They have partied there. In a plain MMO a character can attack in any position. But this doesn’t work in a VRMMO, because now you have to mind standing, pauses, ranks and other factors.  The two take advantage of the experience they gained there to accurately instruct the party members. I was also asked if they could study my fighting when I was receiving instructions from the two.

In the party I seemed to have the highest level, everyone was surprised. RockBell, who was highest than most was level 19, following was Nanami at level 17 and the rest were level 16. They said I was the one who was the most unnatural. Yeah, it’s pretty abnormal to be over level 20 in a day and a half.

After that, I separated from party when it started to become dark.

So, I have come back to the back of the forest to practice and experiment Image Effect Theory again. Also, by selling the drop items from yesterday up until today, I was able to buy several swords from Light’s stall. Using the Magic swords doesn’t require magic. But they keep breaking. Light appeared surprised again, but was willing to sell me the swords.

I came to the forest and started attacking Ogres and Bogards, as I quickly moved to the deeper area. In the middle of it the endurance of one sword becomes depleted and is replaced with a spare sword.

Umu. The endurance consumption rate is to intense to continue this.
It might be early to still look for a blacksmith with better skills.
But, there is a blacksmith skill, polishing, that renews the endurance, once it is low.

I did not notice it because I was fighting, but I went into the deepest section of the forest. When I noticed it I was out in square area surrounded by woods.  And a huge lizard with Horns and wings was standing in the middle of the square. Yes, it was a dragon there.

「A…re? Is that? Is it really…」(Fenrir)

In response to my sound, the dragon turned its head and looked at me.

「Who is the one preventing me from my sleep?. I am one of the 26 kings, the king of the beginning, Start.  You are a fool for interfering with my sleep, for that you will die.」

The dragon said something ridiculous suddenly.

Angel Quest
Defeat one of the 26 kings, or ask one the path of the road that leads to god. And by following the path to meet a god, you will be able to have any wish granted. That is the grand quest of Angel in Online.

Before me is one of the Dragon king’s of the 26. It’s definitely one of the big bosses.

「Whaaat? Eeeh? The king appeared in the game so early!? Seriously!?」(Fenrir)

Despite my confusion, the King of Beginnings began the offensive. The ground shook with its limbs, and a loud roar was given off from its wings.

GURURURURAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA~

I hurriedly took a stance as I drew my swords right after receiving the roar.

「Fuuu~ What a rare boss. I’ll take your challenge.」(Fenrir)

The King sucks in his breath, and the next moment releases a flame breath.

「HOLD ON! Whats with the Sudden Flame Breath!?」(Fenrir)

I avoid to the side, while preparing a spell. I decide return a fireball so I shoot it back.

「FIREBALL!」 (Fenrir)

The fireball I shot slammed into the side of the King of Beginnings face. The King does not even react as if nothing happens, and glares back at me. In the corner of my field of view I see the HP bar of the King has been shaved off about 5%. Hmm, so beginner magic is also effective. As expected of the cheat maximum magic.

Well, the king is my opponent. I have to be serious against him.

Here, using Image effect theory, other than the magic sword, I am able to cast troll spells. (TL: Literally a troll spell)

For each attribute of magic, there is a shield system magic. Fire shield magic cuts 5% to fire attacks and cuts physical attacks by 5%.
The water shield magic cuts 5% to water attacks and cuts physical attack by 5%. It feels like around that.
The shield effects cannot stack when cast one after another either. One will overwrite the other.

So here is where I can use the troll spells. The diversion spell, it’s the same as the frog song. (TL: A Japanese nursery song) It invokes the image of multiple magic’s for one chant, even though I can also chant each magic individually. This enables piling multiple shields on each other. By casting the shield system cuts 5 % of all elements, Fire, water, Earth, wind and lightning. And even then it cuts physical attack by 25%. I call it the penta shield, this is because it forms a five pointed star from the piled up shield systems magic. (TL: What a Mahou Shoujo like move. Lol)

The troll spell is pretty much a cheat, but there is a disadvantage. Naturally since it is a spell that casts multiple magic’s at the same time, the cast tie takes almost a minute longer. Casting becomes longer the more magics are added, and so failing to cast the spell by fumbling can occur. To recite the five types of spells is simply thinking five times the calculations of the normal spells.

While avoiding the King’s attack I cast the Penta shield troll spell.

「FIRE SHIELD!
WATER SHIELD!
WIND SHIELD!
EARTH SHIELD!
THUNDER SHIEILD!」(Fenrir)

Since all of the magic is intertwined, a thin curtain of light surrounds me. I continue the troll spell while reciting the body strengthening spell. I cannot stack the body strengthening magic too much. Magic that’s boost strength, dexterity boost, agility boost, 4x vitality boost, but quadruple boost remove strength.

「There is another Bonus. Beaam!」(Fenrir)

There is no need to say the name of the attack because of thought operation, but it feels short anyway. Strengthening by magic cannot be stacked, but body strengthening by both magic and attack moves together is possible.

「Noow, my preparations are done. It’s time to go.」(Fenrir)

My Step skills level has risen to level 38 because I have emphasized aboiding in all battles so far.

I was attacked, but it was convenient I was able to get many step skills. Combat steps, chain steps, and turning step, are all skills I learned at level 30.

While I was dodging and casting the troll spell, I had analyzed the King’s attack pattern at the same time. The attack pattern consists of, Flame breath, Rush, Biting, Forefoot Attack (Claws?), and cleave tail. It was enough to avoid each attack by anticipating them.

The king sucked in a big breath. Sucking in his breath is a sign of Flame Breath.

GURUAAAAAA!

The King discharged a cluster of Flame Bullets.

「Ku!」(Fenrir)

I avoided while puzzled because I was expecting a different attack. More unexpected situations occur.

The number of flame bullets was four.

What? He can run while firing?

Bearly avoiding the four Flame bullets, I had lost my balance as I didn’t expect the attack. Unexpectedly avoiding the attack placed the king right in front of me.

「!! I can’t evade in time now!」(Fenrir)

Looming in front of his attacking right foot I evoke the cross attack from the dual wielding skill. I used the cross’ defense skills to receive the attack, but by crossing the two swords I am unable get enough power to prevent the huge dragons forefoot attack. The moment I received the right foots attack, I took a step back while parrying the attack to the right.
I casted the auxiliary magic, light, which is used to illuminate during the night and while in caves. I shot it in front of the King, allowing the light to last for a second, but at maximum brightness.
With a maximum brightness and a short duration, it’s used to blind eyes.  Although it’s a technique I read in a light novel, I didn’t expect to use it.

GUUOTSU!!!

After I was able to inflict three bad statuses, burnet eyes, visual paralysis, and paralysis, the king lost sight of me and I increased the gap distance between us. After I was some distance away I took a deep breath. By parrying the king’s attack I still received damage enough to take half of my HP.  I open the menu and drink 3 potions in quick succession. When I have completed my recovery, the king has also regained his vision and glares at me.

How dare you! You lowely human being!

Fuu. Do not underestimate humans!

The king launched himself in a rush. When I was sidestepping to avoid, the king came to a sudden stop and swung his tail for a cleave attack.

Wha! The attack pattern is different!

It could not be avoided because I was targeted the moment I was landing, so I had to activate a magic sword quickly.

「Damn! Grand Press! 」(Fenrir)

Unlike the Open type single space magic like Burst Flare, Grand press was a compression type single point magic. It attacks a target with pressure, and also the pressure collects earth that is pulled into the target area. However a little change is needed for it to be used as a magic sword. The image to invoke the magic is imagining the earth being pulled and compressed. When I have to imagine the process while coating the sword it becomes tricky to hit with it.

The kings tail somehow swung around to hit the magic sword, I attempt to try to decrease the damage. The moment the tail hits it is magic sword, I was flung backward by the impact.  Checking my remaining HP, I realized it was somehow reduced to 1/3.

Muu… I finally recovered my HP and then it was reduced immediately…

Although it also was able to damage the King because of the magic sword strike and his attack was simultaneous.

The king seems to start getting irritated at my avoiding, as he starts to flap his wings and fly, making the wind blow.
This is bad!. Attacks from the air are much harder to avoid.

「CYCLONE BURST! 」(Fenrir)

As a one point, open ended wind attribute magic, it began to activate just above the King, making the air dance. All the wind gathered at one point, was released in the next moment. The king receiving the blast lost his balance and was thrown towards the ground. Just as he was struggling to get up, I shot fire arrows into his location.

「FIRE ARROW! 」(Fenrir)

Although the King received the Flame arrow, he was somehow able to rise. Returning to face me, he prepares a Flame Breath. Since flame breath has a different attack pattern, I wonder if Cleave also has a alternative.  Because of this I avoid early with a high jump instead of a regular evasion.

As expected of a big boss. It’s as tougher than I thought~
 This battle has taken longer than I expected.
How ever you look at it, even though I was riding along the situation, the King of Beginnings and I started fighting, but really challenging the boss isn’t something usually done solo…?
Now that the attack pattern is know, usually a party would challenge the boss after they have this information.
…Well, whatever. It’s interesting to see how far I could go solo-ing.

After repeating attacks and evading attacks, since challenging the king, 30 minutes have probably passed. The effective buff of the penta shield is about to wear off.  The buff generally lasts about 30 minutes.

Looking at the HP bar of the King, it has dropped to about half after all these attacks.

Humu, the buff is about to cut off, then ill re-apply another one. But, how about I do one more big move before then?

I cast 4 simultaneous spells. All at the same point.
First I apply Burst Flare on my right sword, then Aqua Pressure again on the right sword This is done to make a combination magic. The effects together make a water vapor explosion as a mix of water and fire.
Next I cast Cyclone Burst and Thunder blast on my left sword. The synergized effect of wind and thunder make a thunder storm.

After coating both magic swords, the king used his left forefoot to attack. Using this as a springboard I ran overhead to the top of the king.  At the top I released the dual sword attack-Cross to the King’s head. All together the spells have a multiplier effect shown by a cross cut. This was the highest damage attack I was able to come up with. It’s a four pair attack. Of course the disadvantages are that the casting time is long, and while fighting it is difficult to imagine the fusing of two magics.

ZUGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!

「GURURUAAAAAAAAAAA!!! 」(King)

The explosion og magic was followed by the echoing screams of the Kings roar.
I was flicked backwards by the impact from the magic swords explosion.
After regaining my posture in the air I looked at the state of the King of Beginnings.
Also, at this time, my swords break as their durability reaches zero.
heyhey, just one attack was able to reduce the endurance to zero.
Because of this I equipped my spare swords immediately and take a guarding position.

The king had been struggling to stand up, falls in exhaustion.

「Gurua~」

The King collapsed where it was and stopped moving.

「HA?」(Fenrir)

I muttered accidentatly.
Eh? Wait a minute? The King still had half of his HP?
Did this attack remove more than half of its Hp!?
Its my attach… But whats with this attack power…

But, my surprise was halted by an announcement that flowed.
